Comprehensive school-based health care legislation would increase children and adolescents’ access to primary and mental health care services. Connecticut has made a wise investment in and commitment to the health of children and adolescents through state funding for SBHCs. SBHCs are also an important mechanism to manage physical and mental health barriers that reduce academic success. SBHCs improve academic performance, increase attendance and reduce dropout rates.
